I have 5 adults, four of which are quite large and plump and one of which is only 2\/3rds the size and skinny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I took the small one to be a male and tried pairing it up with one of the larger fish several times with no results. Eventually I put the whole group together in a larger tank over a grid, and next morning there were a ton of infertile eggs and a few fertile ones. For example, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seriouslyfish.com\/species\/moenkhausia-sanctaefilomenae\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.seriouslyfish.com\/species\/moenkhausia-sanctaefilomenae\/\">seriouslyfish<\/a> page says &#8220;They should be fed on an infusoria\u2013type food for the first few days, until they are large enough to accept microworm or brine shrimp nauplii.&#8221; I&#8217;ve almost always found tetra fry to be able to eat brine shrimp as a first food, and this species is no exception. They spend a few days hanging off the plants and glass and might bave been eating smaller foods at that time but I suspect they&#8217;re just waiting around for their digestive tracts to appear.
