Nonetheless, behold:  A deep-fried artichoke filled with shrimp cocktail.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/choke.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/choke.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"choke\" width=\"360\" height=\"640\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1409\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/choke.jpg 360w, https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/choke-168x300.jpg 168w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pretty good!  Although, I always thought that the point of &#8216;a la juive&#8217; was that you could eat all of the leaves, which was not quite true with this one.<\/p>\n<p>Courtesy of Woodhouse Fish Company on Fillmore in San Francisco.  They also had excellent Ipswich clams, though I&#8217;m unclear on why there aren&#8217;t equivalent West Coast options.
