{"id":642,"date":"2009-02-15T14:50:12","date_gmt":"2009-02-15T20:50:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/2009\/02\/15\/creepy-crawlies\/"},"modified":"2009-02-15T14:50:12","modified_gmt":"2009-02-15T20:50:12","slug":"creepy-crawlies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/?p=642","title":{"rendered":"creepy-crawlies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My camera can no longer zoom, but the macro lense seems to still be working fine.\u00a0 I&#8217;m uploading fullsized versions of most of these photos with thumbnails in case anyone wants to see individual lizard-scales or bug-veins.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/treefrog.jpg\" alt=\"treefrog (Coqui?)\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Someone at the hotel in Hilo captured this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hear.org\/AlienSpeciesInHawaii\/species\/frogs\/index.html\">frog<\/a> and stuck him in a ziplock bag, hence the blurry photo.\u00a0 Note that the text, above, is 12-point.\u00a0 That&#8217;s one small frog!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/dragonfly.jpg\" title=\"dragonfly\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/dragonfly.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"dragonfly\" \/><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/sea-turtle.JPG\" title=\"sea turtle\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/sea-turtle.thumbnail.JPG\" alt=\"sea turtle\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The house in Puako is conveniently equipped with two models of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gecko\">geckos<\/a> for daytime and nighttime bug control.\u00a0 The colorless nocturnal lizards adopt the standard &#8216;hold still and no one can see me&#8217; strategy when I try to take pictures (of course, it&#8217;s hard to arrange proper lighting), but the day geckos (these are &#8216;gold dust,&#8217; an exotic species from Madagascar) seem more accustomed to being visible and tend to scurry out of view.\u00a0 These last two pictures, at least, are probably worth zooming in on.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/house-gecko.JPG\" title=\"House gecko\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/house-gecko.thumbnail.JPG\" alt=\"House gecko\" \/> <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/day-gecko.JPG\" title=\"gold-dust day gecko\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/day-gecko.thumbnail.JPG\" alt=\"gold-dust day gecko\" \/> <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/day-gecko-2.JPG\" title=\"gold-dust gecko profile\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/day-gecko-2.thumbnail.JPG\" alt=\"gold-dust gecko profile\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My camera can no longer zoom, but the macro lense seems to still be working fine.\u00a0 I&#8217;m uploading fullsized versions of most of these photos with thumbnails in case anyone wants to see individual lizard-scales or bug-veins.
