{"id":766,"date":"2010-01-23T17:33:52","date_gmt":"2010-01-23T23:33:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/2010\/01\/23\/marina-bay\/"},"modified":"2010-01-23T17:33:52","modified_gmt":"2010-01-23T23:33:52","slug":"marina-bay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/?p=766","title":{"rendered":"Marina bay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I took the long trip to the Esplanade on Friday in search of my <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Oyster_omelette\">favorite food<\/a> and to check out the progress on the new waterfront development that was just starting when I was last here.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/marinabay1.jpg\" alt=\"marinabay1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The food was a bit of a bust &#8212; the vendor who used to be here and made the best omelette ever seems to have closed up shop or moved on.\u00a0 The one featured above was pretty good but paled in comparison.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/singaporemarinabayhomes.com\/singapore-marina-bay-developments.html\">waterfront<\/a> is coming along, though.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/marinabay2.jpg\" alt=\"marinabay2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/marinabay4.jpg\" alt=\"marinabay4.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A:\u00a0 I&#8217;m sick of this old downtown.\u00a0 What we need is a new downtown.\u00a0 With Domes!\u00a0 Let&#8217;s build it&#8230; here.\u00a0 <em>points at map <\/em><\/p>\n<p>B: Hm&#8230; it seems a shame to fill that nice park up with skyscrapers.<\/p>\n<p>A: Hm&#8230; you&#8217;re right.<\/p>\n<p><em>minutes pass <\/em><\/p>\n<p>A:\u00a0 OK, how about this.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll build the skyscrapers, but then we&#8217;ll put a big platform on top and recreate the park up there.<\/p>\n<p>B:\u00a0 <em>shrugs<\/em> Whatever.\u00a0 It isn&#8217;t worth arguing about.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bogott.net\/unspecified\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/marinabay31.jpg\" alt=\"marinabay31.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I took the long trip to the Esplanade on Friday in search of my favorite food and to check out the progress on the new waterfront development that was just starting when I was last here.
