I tried kept these adults in brackish water for a long time and they flourished but didn’t spawn until I moved them into fresh. I stole the eggs from the parents quite early on but they developed fine without any fungus.
The fry were very small — I gave them a mossy 10 gallon tank and fed them with greenwater and moina, hoping that they’d be able to eat the smallest size moina. A handful grew to adulthood so this is definitely a species that can be kept in fully fresh water for their whole lives.
