I started out with a pair of these (the ‘golden wonder’ strain) bought from Andy Jameson at an auction, and expanded the group with a few extra fish from a local shop. Adding additional fish may have been a mistake since the dominant male got quite big and may have killed a few of the smaller fish. I did wind up with a nice big, healthy pair, which laid lots of great big eggs that were easy to pick from the mops.
For once, my fingers weren’t a touch of death to the eggs, so quite a lot of them hatched out after a couple of weeks. The fry were big and easy to feed; they also showed color at a very small size.
